1.2. Information Technology (IT)

A general term that relates to the use of computer an aid to create and maintain data, i.e. information. IT is related to all aspects of managing data and processing information, especially within a large organization. Computer to are critical to manage information, and computer departments within large organizations are often called IT departments. Typical IT functions include:

• Data capturing and input 

• Data and information representation / storage 

• Data processing

• Information and Presentation and Output

• Data transmission
